March 27, 2007 Tuesday

* Today we met Dr. Christy - the GI Chief of the Department. So nice to meet the man that I have
heard so much about. He is pleased with Liam's progress and has made a
couple of recommendations regarding his continuing care:

* He likes the idea of coiling the varicose veins from the shunt
site rather than banding the varices from above. This will offer
better long term control of the veins in his esophageous

* We will make a few modifications to the medications:
Omeprazole 40 mg 2x/day (to help with reflux), Reglan up to 25 mg am and 20 pm
(to help with gastric emptying); Zofran to help Liam with his occasional neausea.

* Liam is in a little bit better mood today. His cough has calmed down somewhat an he is able
to sleep. Thee plan as of right now is to hold tight for a couple of days to make sure that Liam is stable enough to go home.

* Good things to know:
The shunt is working with adequate flow and the echo does not show
evidence of lung disease secondary to the liver. The doc's may want
to repeat as a "bubble echo" later.
