August 24, 2007

This morning I was woken up with the phrase – “rejection” is a tough word…At least that is what I will always remember.

Certain blood levels in the past 3 days have tripled. These numbers, I am told, mean that his body is rejecting the liver. His abdomen is still very sensitive to touch and the liver in particular hurts to be touched. The doctors have explained that this does NOT mean that the liver is going to be lost – it means that they need to take some intervention measures to make sure that things can be turned around. Liam will have a biopsy today (3pm) and a sonogram (2pm) to make sure that the bile ducts are not compromised.

Our prayer is that Liam continues to be happy, that the procedure is successful and that merely changing the prednisone levels will prevent further decline in his numbers.
