The weekend was magical. Although Liam's spirits weren't the best, the cloud began lifting thanks to some very special visitors. Liam's friend Justin Kohlberg (From Wiffle Ball Fame), his brother Mikey, Mom Karen and Dad Andy surprised Liam with an up close and personal visit... Did I mention that they flew Shannon and Bill up, too???
The kids laughed, played Wii, the boys wrestled, Mom and Shannon SLEPT in a hotel bed (yeah!), Mom walked aroung the lake with karen...there were lots of hugs, much laughter, and although time together could never be as long as we would have liked, it was certainly filled with QUALITY moments!
Liam's liver functions recovered significantly on Sunday thanks to an increase in Prednisone. Today, however, they were slightly increased again. Liam got his stitches out today - a little painful, but he has said several times how much better he feels having them out! We are working with the pharmacy, endocrinology & pulmonary/CF to get the balance of his medications back to therapeutic baseline. No news as to when the Nasal Gastric tube will be removed, but considering the fact tht he is still not able to eat as much as his body needs, the next conversation might be regarding putting the G-Tube back in his abdomen (yech!!). Today was the first day that the hospital gave Liam a 3 hour pass - yep, we left the hospital! We ate at Johnny Rockets and went to a movie. He was sore and a little tired but decided to 'hang out' with me until about 9:30 - no nap today so he is beat! But boy, how is that for progress?!?
My sister Cari and her husband Don are in Seattle right now as well...They said they came to Seattle for a little getaway - but Liam and I secretly know how much Cari likes hospitals (ha ha)! She is an amazing sister and always seems to know when to bring a salad, sandwich, a silly balloon or an ice tea - She always remembers the love!
Our prayer for Liam is that his anxiety lifts, his optimism soars, his liver takes its rightful place, his medications reach therapeutic levels and that by labor day, he is sleeping in a Hotel bed rather than a Hospital bed... (optimistic, I know, but look at the miracles God has already performed)!
God bless your sleep! |
