Out of breath. Tired. Stomach hurts. Is something wrong, Mom?

Liam's a bit slow going today. He slept - not well; he ate - alot; His body is waking up - finally; His patience - it is definately being tested!

Sometimes we have to remember that it is OK to merely take a small step rather than a gigantic leap. Last night was in fact a gigantic leap for Liam. Did he over do it? probably. Did it set his progress backwards? definately not! Today he just needs to take it a little bit easier, that's all.

Dr. Reyes came in beaming this morning, not only was his liver transplant yesterday very successful (praise God!), but he shared that Liam's liver seems to be responding to the methalprednasone and his numbers are begining to recover. The only number which is not moving is called GGT (don't ask me the name, I have a hard enough time remembering the letters). The GGT regulates the bile duct production. Dr. Reyes said that the bile ducts seem to be acting like they are still a little inflamed so they will be starting Liam on a new drug today called Actigall. It is used to help break down gall stones, but it should help the bile flow better. If the numbers do not improve by Tuesday, an additional biopsy may be needed.

It is interesting how the doctors, the nursing staff and the team give direction to our understanding and handling of these situations. They don't panic, so we don't panic. In retrospect, I think we should panic more (although I am glad that we don't) when I look back at what we have all been through. But then again, I am reminded that panic and fear are for those who have no faith. Our faith is solid, our God is loving and our boy is a miracle.

Love to you all as we celebrate the miracles in store for us this day.
